This non-standard brass shelf plate was fitted under the block bell in Hallen Marsh Junction signal box and worked through to Bristol Panel "D" position. The plate from the various Signalmen I worked said it with was fitted in the 1970s and measures 4 1/4" X 1 1/4" and has a nice polished patina. Hallen Marsh box closed in 1988 under the re-signalling scheme along with Holesmouth junction, Avonmouth Goods yard and Avonmouth Dock junction in connection with the opening of the new Bristol Bulk Handling Terminal (B B H T ). Bristol panel is itself on borrowed time and the "D" position or Stoke panel closed about 3 years ago.
