This non-standard brass shelf plate was fitted under the block bell in Hallen Marsh Junction signal box and worked through to Holesmouth Junction which was about 700 yards away.. The plate from the various Signalmen I worked with said it was fitted in the 1970s and measures 4 3/4" X 1 1/4" and has a nice polished patina. Hallen Marsh box closed in 1988 along with Holesmouth junction, Avonmouth Goods yard and Avonmouth Dock Junction under the re-signalling scheme in connection with the opening of the new Bristol Bulk Handling Terminal (B B H T ).
