Product Description
This non-standard brass shelf plate was fitted under the block bell in Avonmouth Dock Junction signal box and worked through to St Andrews Junction which was about 2 miles away. Avonmouth Dock Junction was a Midland Railway design and was on the former Clifton Extension Railway. The plate from the various Signalmen I worked with said it was fitted in the 1970s and measures 4 3/4" X 1 1/4" and has a nice polished patina. Avonmouth Dock Junction box closed in 1988 along with St Andres Junction,Avonmouth Goods yard and Holesmouth Junction under the re-signalling scheme in connection with the opening of the new Bristol Bulk Handling Terminal (B B H T ).
