This Great Western Railway super rare Tufnol cased block bell were produced during WW11 when Mahogany was needed for the war effort. Alternative materials were used by R.E.Thompson for instrument cases including Tufnol which is a manmade very hard wearing material, Oak was also used. This example has the bonus of being fitted with an early turned brass pedestal supporting a large "Flat top" bell which sounds amazing. This instrument retains its brass makers plate showing it was made at Teddington and is in working order.
