A Great western Railway steam locomotive forged steel coal pick stamped with the supplier and G.W.R. When this item came to us the handle was broken and badly rotted so we took the view to hand make a new handle using a brand new pickaxe ash handle. We carefully measured the original handle and shaped this one to match. This handle had been traditionally fitted using a hard wood wedge driven in to secure the shaft to the head. This shaft was then stained and sealed to give a nice finish. This pick is now usable in the steam heritage scene and very old too!
