About Us

I’ve been collecting railwayana for over 40 years, with a focus on signalling items. My passion began at age 13 when I organized a model railway and relic exhibition at school, raising over £150 for Oxfam.

Coming from a respected showman’s family, I grew up working on funfairs, where I earned a shilling in the pound and spent it on expanding my collection. My early inspiration came from a family friend who gifted me my first items, including a cherished GWR brass lever plate.

After school, I aspired to be a signalman but initially pursued engineering. Eventually, I joined British Railways in the 1990s, working as a signalman for nearly seven years before starting my own engineering business in 1997. Today, I run two successful companies:

Joe Nemeth Engineering Limited: Specializing in designing, manufacturing, and overhauling miniature railway locomotives and equipment (7 ¼” to 2-foot gauge).

Junction Railwayana: Established seven years ago, this business caters to railwayana collectors by offering a wide range of items for sale. We’ve grown steadily, employing four local staff and expanding to include a shop and an additional unit for heavy signalling equipment and transport memorabilia.

In our workshop, my wife Gosia and I restore items with great care. As the official restorer for Great Central Railwayana Auctions, I’ve worked on locomotive nameplates, signs, and signalling equipment.

We buy, sell, and part-exchange railwayana, including signalling equipment, signs, lamps, and vintage toys. Feel free to contact us if you’re looking to buy or sell items. We also attend railwayana events throughout the year—hope to see you there!
