Product Description
A rare Bristol and Exeter Railway screw thred jack, unsure of its exact purpose but it has a radius at the base which would saddle a 4 1/4" bar. The square thread is 1 3/16" x 4 threads per inch, the overal height when extended is 10" and the body doiameter is 2 1/4". B & E R is stamped in three places, a most interesting device capable of excerting several tons of pressure and weighs 7 lbs. To think this could have been in use around Mr I K Brunel`s day!
