Well heres a very special lamp indeed! a tail lamp used on the Royal train. The royal trains, which did not enter Aberdeen station but reversed at Ferryhill, took about 75 minutes to travel the 42 1/2 miles to Ballate, the Queen disliked high speed. The line was cleared fifteen minutes before the train was due, the facing points and level crossing gates were locked and stations closed. This lamp along with others would have been kept at Aberdeen until required for use. This BR(W) lamp in in ex railway service condition and is signwritten "ROYAL TRAIN. RETURN.TO ABERDEEN"and numbered 1. The lamp is complete with reservior and burner and has it POLKEY LTD makers plate intact.
