Product Description
These North Eastern Railway wood cased signal arm repeaters were manufactured and supplied by Tyres & Co, very similar in design to G.W.R. examples but with the words OUT OF ORDER instead of WRONG which the G.W.R. used. This instrument has been modified by the signal department to double up as a Distant signal arm repeater and "slot" repeater. The slot is a mechanicial device of weighted levers at the base of a signal where the box in advance has its Distant signal mounted beneath the box in rears Starting signal. The slot prevents the Distant arm from showing "OFF" when the stop arm is at danger. This fine instrument has its original paper face wjich is well patinated, this is in full working order and is well over 100 years old.
