The speed was achieved during the downward grade of Stoke Bank, south of Grantham at milepost 90¼, between Little Bytham and Essendine stations. Mallard hauled a seven-coach train, including a Dynometer car which housed apparatus to record the speed. This bag has 2 brass tags both stamoed L.N.E.R. and the ain label has L.N.E.R. LITTLE BYTHAM TO PETERBORO`. A fantastic peice of railway history and this item was almost certainley in existance in 1926 as its hand engraved, the L.N.E.R. adding after grouping in 1923.
