This early Great Western Railway "Reading" built Distant signal repeater is very scarce to find in this format, These wood cased instrument were originally built at flag type repeaters. The flag type repeater had a white painted Zinc plate with a 1" diameter aperture , behind the aperture was a "Flag" of which there were several versions. ie Slot, Bar Signal Point and Lock. Most of these were rebuilt by the GWR into the handsome arm repeaters. This example is in excellent condition and complete with brass "UP DISTANT" plate.
