A fine peice of silverware manufactured by Walker & Hall exclusively for the London & North Eastern Railway to commerate the coronation of King George VI and for use in their Coronation Silver Jubliee resturant cars. The Coronation was LNER's streamlined express passenger train between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. Named to mark the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, it was inaugurated on 5 July 1937. The train's streamlined design was based on that of The Silver Jubliee, but instead of being painted silver it was given a two-tone blue livery.
This 1/2 pint gravy boat is well marked with there exclusive mark for this special set of trains, a fine item indeed.
