Product Description
This instrument is a Great northern Railway Telegraph instrument and dates from 1880s to 1900, these instruments were essential for signalling trains and send messages from station to station. These were installed in signalboxes and stations, a handle fitted at the base of the instrument and would be moved left to right to operate the needle at the instrument at the other end. The man receiving did the same and letter were produced by reading the needle above. Sounders were fitted as this one has to make the message audible. This instrument is in lovely condition and has been tested. A brass frame on the right hand side has a list on all the locations the instrument messaged to.
