These G.W.R. lamp repeaters were mounted on the block shelf in the signalbox and indicated to the signalman that the corresponding lamp on the signal at the lineside was lit, within the lamp case was an expander unit which had contacts which were closed when the heat from the flame caused the unit to expand. In this state the indicator flag would show LAMP IN, if the lamp were to go out the expander unit would cool down and the contacts would open causing a bell to ring and the flag show LAMP OUT. This instrument is in excellent condition and is or the earlier pattern, the instrument has been tested and is in full working order and complete.
