This rare instrument is pure Great Western Railway! handmade at the companies first signal & Telegraph works at Paddington, this was later relocated to Caversham road, Reading. These instrument were installed on double track lines where a level crossing was operated by a crossing keeper. These locations usuall had protecting signals for the crossing and this instrument showed the state of the line. This example is in excellent condition and both flag indicators are stamped G.W.R. A brass makers plate on the base sets the whole instrument off. This instrument has been examined, cleaned and tested and is in full working order.
